Bartłomiej Pękiel: Opera omnia. Tom I: Utwory wokalno - instrumentalne (Vocal & Instrumental works)
Opis
This volume of Pękiel's complete works presents his vocal and instrumental compositions in the seconda pratica style: the dialogo Audite mortales, the concerto Dulcis amor Jesu, and the three concertante Masses, Missa Concertata la Lombardesca, Missa a 14, and Missa a 6 de Resurrectione Domini Nostri Jesu Christi (of which only a fragment, the Bass-Viola part, has survived), and also his Canones a 6 and his keyboard Fugue. Manuscript copies of these works, probably posthumous and at any rate later than the time when the compositions were created, survived to the twentieth century at Gdańsk, which the King's Musicians had visited during the 1640's while other relatively early copies are to be found at Uppsala and Berlin, where presumably they were transcribed from manuscripts which must have come there along with other manuscript documents looted from Polish collections by the Swedes and carried away during their occupation of Warsaw in the mid 1650's.
Contains Monographic Instroduction and Thematic Catalogue of B. Pekiel's works.
