Franciszek Lilius: Opera omnia I: Missae. SSS vol. XXVII

W niniejszym zeszycie zaprezentowano wszystkie zachowane, w tym również niekompletnie, msze Franciszka Liliusa. Trzy z nich są polichóralne, pozostałe cztery przeznaczone na jeden chór o obsadzie a voce pari. Jest wysoce prawdopodobne, że owe czterogłosowe msze powstały z myślą o działającym od 1543 roku w katedrze krakowskiej kolegium rorantystów, o czym świadczy umiejscowienie kompozycji w partesach roranckich. Pozostałe msze mogły znajdować się w repertuarze wokalno-instrumentalnej kapeli wawelskiej, jednak ze względu na brak przekazów źródłowych nie można tego jednoznacznie potwierdzić.

Tylko trzy z siedmiu cykli mszalnych zachowały się kompletnie i mogą zostać włączone do repertuaru chóralnego (Missa brevissima, Missa Tempore Paschali, Missa a 4), w pozostałych brakuje przynajmniej jednego głosu – w mszy żałobnej oraz w officium De Conceptione BVM nie zachował się najwyższy głos, natomiast w dwóch dwuchórowych mszach przechowywanych w Gdańskiej Bibliotece PAN brakuje aż trzech głosów – altu pierwszego chóru oraz tenoru i basu drugiego chóru.

This issue presents all the preserved masses by Franciszek Lilius, including the incomplete ones. Three of them are polychoral, the remaining four are intended for a single choir a voce pari. It is highly probable that these four-part masses were composed with the Capella Rorantistarum in mind; this body functioned at the Cracow Cathedral from 1543, and evidence of this intention is provided by the fact that the composition is located in the Rorantist partbooks. The other masses may have been present in the vocal-instrumental repertory of the Wawel ensemble, but since they are not transmitted in the available sources this cannot be confirmed unequivocally.

Only three of the seven mass cycles are preserved in a complete form and may be included in choral repertory (Missa brevissima, Missa Tempore Paschali, Missa a 4); the remaining ones are missing at least one part: the highest voice is missing in the funeral mass and in the office of De Conceptione BVM, while the two two-choir masses held at the Gdańsk Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences have as many as three parts missing – the alto of the first choir and tenor and bass of the second choir.
